The project re-evaluates Cumhuriyet Square, which holds a significant place in the city’s collective memory along with the train station and surrounding streets, as a powerful public center. By placing Vasıf Çınar Street underground, the project proposes re-establishing continuity between the station, the square, and the surrounding public spaces. The social center structure defining the square is divided in two by a street running through it , allowing the urban fabric to continue towards the square. The grandstand serves as a gathering and viewing area for events, while also becoming a resting place in daily life, shifting the public movement in the square to the upper level of the structure.
